He is a former member of the boy group AB6IX, its project unit MXM, and the project group YDPP. He made his solo debut on August 29, 2023, with his EP "Room". Youngmin first debuted in the duo MXM on September 6, 2017, with the mini album "UNMIX". In 2018 joined the project group YDPP. In 2019, he debuted in AB6IX, which was formed from Produce 101 trainees. The group officially debuted on May 22, 2019, with the album "B:COMPLETE". However, on June 8, 2020, Youngmin left AB6IX following a DUI incident to protect the group's reputation.
