Born in 1948. Graduated from Tama School of Art. Ever since he discovered 8mm film in the 1960s, he has been exploring for a new personal image by using celluloid. In 1970, he organized the independen... Born in 1948. Graduated from Tama School of Art. Ever since he discovered 8mm film in the 1960s, he has been exploring for a new personal image by using celluloid. In 1970, he organized the independent screening group , and he has been working on various screening all over the country for more than 50 years. His main literary work “Filmmaking – an introduction to Kojin-eiga” is not only became a reference for independent filmmakers, but also played a establishing the concept of “Kojin-eiga” in Japan. He served as a Professor at Tama Art University (from 2001 to 2017), and jury members at Pia film festival [PFF](from 1979 to 1987).
