Roy made her film debut with Rajen Tarafdar's Antariksha. She starred in the Berlinale 1973 Golden Bear winning film Ashani Sanket a.k.a. Distant Thunder in her only prominent international role. Today the film features in The New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made.
