She was crowned Femina Teen Princess India 1975 and represented India at the Miss Teenage Intercontinental contest in Aruba, where she was crowned second runner-up. In late-1970s, she joined the Hindi film industry and had a successful career as a leading actress for thirteen years. In 1991, she quit the industry and married Anil Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Group.
